Ball of SnakesI saw this once in Australia. It came hissing around a corner a couple of feet off the ground and rolled rapidly past me as I jumped back in amazement. I believe snakes either do this in what biologists call a mating frenzy, or they do it to escape en masse from danger. Joan Woodruff tells me she once saw a ball of rattlesnakes rolling down an arroyo ahead of a flash flood. I don't believe this phenomenon has ever been photographed or filmed.
