| I started drawing when I was 14 and needed to get away from the hell of a boarding school to be on my own. I’ve no idea where the impulse came from, possibly some reincarnational prompting, but I felt compelled to draw the small 12th and 13th century churches dotting the English countryside. This was a risky business since the churches were off-limits and I was regularly caught and beaten--and rebellious enough to keep on doing it. Thus, art for me always has a dangerous edge to it. Architecture came next, which gave my drawings a new level of precision as well as teaching me some of the rudimentary aspects of art. Graphic and magazine design followed when I was the art director of a small, but influential, English magazine from 1965-74. To my surprise PROCESS magazine has recently been recognized as a progenitor of much contemporary avant-garde magazine design. After a Near Death Experience in 1973 my interests turned to exploring ways of graphically representing the multidimensional nature of reality. With sacred landscapes, healing graphics, telepathic glyphs, extraterrestrial and interdimensional portraits, using occult and magical symbols, I’m essentially trying to draw back the veil between the worlds. It seems to me vital, with the global transformation accelerating all around us, to familiarize ourselves, and one another, with as much as we can gather about the changes to come. Although I consider my graphics as purely personal, created for the joy of the process, I hope they might encourage others to dig into the deeper dimensions of life and return with their visions of truth and beauty. Thank you for taking time to look at my work. |
